The Great War has just ended, booze has stopped flowing legally, and women are fighting for the right to vote… Welcome to Boardwalk Empire. HBO’s epic series transports us to Atlantic City at the dawn of Prohibition, when organized crime was about to explode across the country. Collaborating with the show’s creator, Terence Winter, we sought to introduce the main character, Nucky Thompson, ”ruler of the boardwalk.”
what we did.
We filmed at a beach in New Jersey near the Boardwalk sets, where we experienced the detail and care that went into every aspect of production, down to the whiskey bottles. We even got to design a custom label for Grand Canadian Old Rye Whiskey, a copy of which still hangs in our studio. Steve Buscemi was a pleasure to work with, even in a three piece wool suit on the hottest day of summer!
