ESPN US Open Broadcast Toolkit
Promo for ESPN
Welcome to the raw energy of the US Open, where tennis crashes into city attitude and the game doesn’t just play, it hits. For ESPN’s coverage, we built a bold, kinetic design system pulsing with the speed, edge, and electricity of New York City.
what we did
Led by Creative Director Rob Slychuk, Imaginary Forces delivered a modular broadcast toolkit that hits like an adrenaline shot, built to move fast, strike hard, and flex across platforms. Beyond design, we developed the story, editorial rhythm, and pacing that fuel the experience. We captured subway footage on location for the opener, layering in voiceover to echo the city’s heartbeat and using match cuts to shift between the rawness of NYC and the intensity of the tournament.
From title cards to transition wipes, every element channels late-night drama and urban grit. With customization at its core, the system gives editorial, marketing, and social teams the freedom to dial the energy up or down, while keeping the visuals unmistakably US Open. The result is a design language as bold and unrelenting as the final set under the lights at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
