Light & Magic

Main Title for Disney+
Behind Hollywood’s most magical moments in cinema are the visual effects, animation and production of Industrial Light & Magic. Beyond the history of the company, founded by George Lucas, the docuseries transports us into the limitless world of visual effects. We explored the expansive library of ILM’s most iconic films in just 40 seconds, spotlighting the creative geniuses that kept viewers at the edge of their seats in the 1970s—still inspiring filmmakers to this day.

what we did

We were honored to work alongside Lawrence Kasdan to tell the story of how ILM utilized technology as a tool to revolutionize the way the world sees cinema. With so many iconic films made by ILM, we showcased culture-shaping movies in a timeline of cinematic evolution by cutting practical BTS moments with the actual film clips. Emulating a pre-digital aesthetic, we used light flares, film strips and a triumphant sound score, to capture the nostalgia of the classics. Even the title card swiftly captures the role that process plays into production. From blue screens, stop motion and sculpted figurines to CGI and live-action renderings, ILM was known for making the impossible possible.
